New MCUs and Design Software from Rockwell Automation Optimize Smart Machine Design

SINGAPORE, May 31, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Machine builders can design and program stand-alone machines more efficiently with the new Allen-Bradley Micro850 and Micro870 2080-Lx0E controllers using the latest Connected Components Workbench software version of Rockwell Automation.

These new controllers facilitate project implementation with the new DNP3 protocol, a set of open standard communication protocols used in SCADA and remote monitoring systems for accurate data reporting. The controllers have also extended DF1 support, full-duplex and half-duplex communications, to help improve CIP serial communications via full-duplex and half-duplex and radio modem modes.

These connectivity capabilities meet more application requirements, especially in the water and wastewater industry. In addition, extensive protocol support minimizes the conversion risk for upgrading the MicroLogix control system to Micro800. Users can increase productivity with improved controller runtime and I/O response performance, which speed up the design process for faster project development.

New and improved features in version 20.01 of Connected Components Workbench software help improve design efficiency. Software simplifies the development of stand-alone machines built with Rockwell Automation Micro-control system. Users can save development time through faster data transfer rates with improved upload and download performance of 23% and 40% respectively.

The latest version of the software helps to ease configuration and meet more water/wastewater application requirements with expanded support for DNP3 and DF1, including half-duplex and radio modem modes. It can also improve system security with new set/verified password and user project encryption/decryption in pluggable memory module.

Connected Components Workbench software version 20.01 is the minimum required version for Micro850 and Micro870 2080-Lx0E controllers. Users can benefit from a more secure programming environment with improved encryption between software and new controllers, and increased protocol authentication with Secure Authentication version 5 (Sav5) in DNP3 communication.
